#Special Request: How To Tie Gele(Video)

A headgear is anything worn on the head.

Headgear in Nigeria is commonly called Gele. It is like a crowning glory to a typical african woman's attire.

E.g of Gele
Singele
Aso oke
Paper gele etc

Gele can be tied successfully and easily if these steps are taken.

STEP 1
Fold your gele into two equal halves or partially..

STEP 2
• Fold in the tip of the gele. Make sure it is smooth, it will ensure the gele has a smooth base at the front

• Place on the head ensuring one part is longer than the other.

STEP 3
Pull the longer part round the head across to the other ear all the way to the back, wrapping it and securing it with your hands at the back.

Then carefully pleat the gele

STEP 4
At the side and top of the gele, arrange d pleats carefully as shown in dp.

You can have 3layers, 4 or 5..it depends on wht u prefer.

STEP 5
Pull both ends together at this point.

Then begin to squeeze the ends to form a fan from the middle of the layout, ensuring the left over at the end closest to you is enough to grip.

Then tie firmly but not too tight to avoid headache.

STEP 6
Now move to the layers at the front. Start making lines and pleats forming layered steps at the front of the gele with your fingers.

Be sure to make them as defined as possible.

Use ur fingers and if possible palm to smoothen d layers to make them very flat.

FINALLY!!!
Style the gele until the desired result is achieved.

Push the gele back from the face to the hairline to give the face a lift. Be sure not to push back excessively so the gele won't fall off your head.

AND VIOLA

Note: Do not pull your ears out of the gele.

Feel free to like post and ask questions.

GELE TIPS*
1. Make sure ur grips are firm while tying

2. Always pack hair neatly baackwards away from the face before starting

3. If headgear seem too long, u could cut it into an appropriate size if desired

4. To reduce pressure on the head from d gele, put a finger in for some allowance once you pull out.
